Pets, with their endearing personalities and expressive faces, never fail to inspire me as an artist.
When commissioning a portrait the photograph is critical. Portraits can look flat and without vibrancy when there is not sufficient colour in the fur - every change in the direction of the hair changes the colour of the hair due to the light hitting it differently. I have loaded a video that shows how I layer the pastel to create colour and texture to ensure I get an accurate likeness.
Key things to remember when providing a photograph:
In focus
Light on the face to get a twinkle in the eyes
A dark or contrasting colour for the background.
If the pet has crossed the rainbow bridge, please provide a number of photographs.
Whether you're seeking a larger or smaller painting, I am flexible and can accommodate various sizes. If you would like two pets in the one painting, then A3 size is the minimum.
Feel free to drop me an email, and we can discuss your vision further. Your pet's painting is not just a piece of artwork; it's a timeless tribute to the love and companionship they bring into your life.
